my life, my thoughts, me, me, me.

Apparently the U.S. State Department is changing their official font from Courier New 12 to Times New Roman 14 for a "more modern look."
Um... Times is OLDER than Courier. Even I (the non-art major) know this!
I love it when a Jersey story makes the wire.

It amazes me how I (who come the farthest from work) still manage to make it there before everyone else. And this with a 92 Jetta vs a Jeep. (yes you know what particular coworker I talking about)

The Oscar noms have been announced... and you can bet I will be watching (Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara will get to sing their "Oscar-nominated song" !)

This weekend, Lucky and I saw two wonderful movies, Big Fish and American Splendor. Big Fish rambled a bit but by the end, everyone in the theater was at least misty-eyed... I was bawling. One of Tim Burton's most cohesive and mature works. However, Oscar-winning? Nah.
AS is the true story of a guy who writes comic books regarding his everyday life and his observations on things (sound familiar?). The film mixes the real people with actors portraying them, and also cartoon representations. This indie film deserves all the attention it's getting. Here's Harvey Pekar's site... it has blogs and everything.
I'm prepping for moving, organizing my craft room so that when it's moved in a few months, I will know where everything is. This is going to take a long time (amazing what you can gather in 10 years' time).

Seems like it's getting to be that time of the year when I "live" at the FoodBank. This morning, we had our first meeting regarding the BlueJeanBall. And just last Tuesday, I was tossing purple onions in a bin for a photo shoot (this new magazine regarding charities is featuring the FB in its premiere issue and I was one of the few volunteers chosen. ) BTW... want to win a guitar signed by the Boss? Go here.
On Wednesday was the fundraising meeting regarding NJ Save A Pet and it seems like everything is going pretty well... Chris, the husband of the president just released an album with Phish lyricist Tom Marshall... Amfibian (get it?!?)
(Going on a tangent... check this out... Thanks to Adam for this important info).
Dinner last night was amazing and yumilishous. (I think it ended up being 12 different types of food)

Today it was announce that the NJ Nets will be moving to Brooklyn... I wonder if they are going to change their name to the Nets (just like how the Giants aren't allowed to be called the Jersey Giants even though they played in the Meadowlands)...
Happy Chinese New Year!!

Last night, I saw Susan Sarandon speak at the SmartTalk Women's Lecture Series in New Brunswick... how do I say this diplomatically?... she sucked (ok, I know; I don't have a future in politics).
Read from her notes, stumbled over words, rambling, my boss fell asleep, and I went over the week in my head. "Ok Snowflake, tomorrow you are being interviewed for a new magazine about charity organizations at the FoodBank, then Wednesday... a fundraising meeting for NJ Save a Pet, Thursday is Chinese New Year with family and friends, and then of course the weekend...."
The only semi-excitement was when I got stuck on the ice going up the exit ramp in the parking garage... I've never spun out on an incline and smelled burning rubber!

This Saturday was my first time snowshoeing... Lucky and I went up to High Point State Park because the day before on my way back from walking in the snow by work, I decided I wanted to do it.
I lucked out... there were free rentals that day! I got to try on Atlas' new line of snowshoe (not like I think there are many brands) whilst Lucky used his 5 year-old version which weren't as streamlined. It was lots of fun stomping through the snow and walking on the lake... and on the way down we had some delicious pastries (freshly made chocolate frosted eclair and a sugared puff pastry horn with whipped cream) at the Holland American Bakery and then a stop at the US Diner in Butler (the turkeyburger was moist, the waitress hard of hearing, the radio tuned to Q104.3)

Today would have been Helen's 52nd birthday. I miss her.

Wow... can't believe that it's been 2 weeks since New Year's!
Figured if I don't write about the holidays now, I never will.
Christmas eve, we went down to Lucky's aunt and uncle's house by the bay. We had the traditional fishy Italian meal topped off by the most expensive and beautiful cupcakes. We slept over his parents' house and stayed a while, exchanging gifts and waiting for the second familywave to arrive before we departed to my mom's.
We rushed over to my mom's (over an hour away from Lucky's parents) hoping that we weren't going to be late (she said 5ish, 6ish) and we showed up a few minutes after 6, frazzled because we didn't have time to wrap all the gifts.
Heh, like that mattered... my brother and SiL in traditional fashion didn't arrive until well after 7. My mom's poor friend had shown up right at 5:30... Didn't start opening presents until about 9:30 and unfortunately the gift that I got my brother (you know the one I just wrapped... well Lil*ian Vernon sent the wrong one :( )...
Considering that I had to work the next day, I escaped at 11 PM.
However, the next week I took off and spent some time with Lucky and my mom... shopping at Peddler's Village, etc. Lots of fun and very very hard to go back to work. New Year's was at Stitch and Lilo's again. And of course there was a lot of food.

This seems to be a very sophisticated movie... it has Jerry Orbach in it after all!

I have decided that if I were to do a NJ wine trail, it would be the South Central B Wine Trail... three of my favorite wineries... Cream Ridge Winery, Valenzano Winery, Tomasello Winery
They are having Valentine's Day specials... I think this might be a plan ;)

Happy Anniversary, Lucky!
Can't believe that it's been 2 years since Lucky and I first kissed in my kitchen. We're going to have a real romantic dinner at IKEA, slurping up meatballs as we watch the sunset over the NJ Turnpike.
