THE YEAR IN REVIEW: 2003

Concerts seen included They Might Be Giants, The Moody Blues, James Taylor, Weird Al, Donovan, and The Doors (21st Century). I touched Rick Springfield (yes, Dr. Noah Webber), gave Pat DiNizio of the Smithereens the wrong directions, and listened to Billy Idol playing a soldout concert at the Stone Pony while putting at an abandoned mini golf course across the street. Oh, and of course there was that appearance in the Bacon Brothers' concert DVD.

Lucky and I did a great job decorating the Community FoodBank of NJ's Blue Jean Ball and by collecting donations at the Meadowlands, got to see bruce (twice) and Shania twain (hey not bad for free). Saw the daVinci exhibit in NYC, met Peter Hillary (son of Edmond who climbed Everest twice himself), almost saw the Macy's balloon being inflated, celebreated an authentic Chinese New Year, participated in a singalong lef by Eric Idle. Twisted my ankle in Boston, did the Mohonk rock scramble, became an "aunt" several times, attended a handful of weddings, one rockin' funeral (I love you Helen), ate deepfried chocolate bars in Brooklyn, attended the World Championship Punkin'Chunkin', had a great vacation in Cape May (some frightening nights camping though), felt very popular around 4th of July with 4 parties attended, did benefit walks for autism and breast cancer research, helped clean up Asbury Park's Palace and went to the Grand Opening of the first Krispy Kreme in NJ (at 5 am we got a free tshirt and donut).

What will 2004 bring? Who knows... at least my 6 year search for my passport is over and I can potentially go whereever I want!

So I'm moving. I can't believe I'm saying this... but in a few months, I will be leaving my apartment that I have had for nearly 10 years. My mom has been wanting me to move back to my hometown for many years now. Everytime she had an open apartment, she would describe it, trying to sell me on it. Well now, it worked. It has a clawfoot tub, is on the first floor (instead of the third), has good waterpressure, and a new stove (only one of my burners really works). It's also in the building next to Lucky's. Of course, it's a big bonus that it's close to my family (my brother and sil also live in the town).

What clinched it for me was the argument that my downstairs neighbors had with each other in the hallway. Ok, it was a screaming match. It only last 3 minutes but still it was midnight. Of course, people who raised a jackass who pumps his bass-driven rap music to 11 at 2 in the morning have no class anyways.

So, I have decided I will be having a big blowout party soon to say farewell. I'll keep you posted.

From the SaveTillie newsletter...

While in Asbury, you may want to pick up the Asbury Park Historical Society's second holiday ornament, a silver-on-red glass ball with a rendering of the Paramount Theatre (Ed.: drawn by the most wonderful boyfriend ever). These are available at four shops on Cookman Avenue: Allan & Suzi (711 Cookman), Cookman 627 (at 627 Cookman), etc... (653 Cookman) and Ocean Park Gallery (703 Cookman), as well as Studebaker's at 1201 Main St.)

The 12 Days of Kitschmas

I am so glad that it snowed last weekend... I was able to get my apartment relatively clean, and decorate it for the holidays. And we were able to reschedule the party that we couldn't get to since it is usually an hour away WITHOUT A WHITEOUT...

It was restful and I actually got to listen to the "Wig in the Box" cd that Duckie bought me (Actually I like Yoko Ono's singing on this one...yes, I was shocked) and watch the Bacon Brothers DVD that Lucky bought me...

To answer your questions:
1. Yes, you do see me on the DVD during the "Footloose" encore.
2. Yes, that's me in the torquoise top and red hair.
3. No, the camera doesn't add 10 pounds, it adds 30!

This weekend, Lucky and I will be heading down to Asbury Park to pick up some of the ornaments that have been adorned with the drawing he did of Convention Hall/Paramount Theatre building, getting our photos taken with Santa, and then heading to a cookie exchange (sans cookies... since I have decided to make my life easier!). The next day, I am cooking up a storm for the Survivor finale and then missing it to have dinner with the family for a belated birthday bro festivity. LUCKY YOU BETTER TAPE IT!!!

So people are asking what I want for the holidays... but how can I explain that I want one of these?!? (Aren't the pink and grey ones the cutest... The thing is that they shed different colors and you can't choose the ones you get :( )

I want this. Although I hate that it was my idea in the first place.

Serendipity!

Last night whilst going through some papers, making sure that nothing urgent was going to be packed away for awhile so that I could deal with the holiday decorating... I came across my passport... I have been looking on and off for about 6 years for this thing!!! This is so exciting (I know I don't get out often enough)... I will be able to get out of the U.S. now if I wanted to like Sandra Bullock in "While You Were Sleeping" and I will have enough identification to verify that I (Ms. Goldawardgirlscout/12yearsurvivorofcatholicschool) am not lying about who I am to the DMV when I get my license renewed.

This serendipity was sooo much better than the movie which we saw this Thanksgiving weekend. My sweet John, why... I thought that "America's Sweethearts" was an anomaly but I guess not. What a horrible movie. The only thing interesting was the frozen hot chocolate which is actually served at the restaurant that was featured in the movie. I initially didn't want to see the movie because I thought that too much was revealed in the trailer... however, the few parts it left out is that they are both engaged... and decide to obsess over someone who they spent a total of 5 hours with!

That was the only bad part of Turkey Weekend. On Wednesday night, Lucky and I went into the city to check out the Macy's balloons being blown up with my college pals. But unfortunately, we never met up with them... We also were a bit late getting to Central Park and so only saw a few balloons since we didn't want to wait a couple hours in line. We ended up having some wonderful Italian food in a small restaurant near Columbus Circle.

The next day, we went to Lucky's brother and SiL's home for Thanksgiving... food was good and it was fun... it was my first time eating "Italian Stuffing"... I tried looking for a recipe online but everything seemed to involve sausage, this didn't have it... it was more like a ricotta and other cheeses mixture with some cream and ham.

We also went to a Jewish babynaming ceremony this weekend. It wasn't as formal as I would have liked it to be... I mean, relatives wearing sweatpants and jeans?

Anyways... this weekend Lucky worked on his greeting card and it's looking good. Can't tell you about it though ;)

FTG and CCB's little Princess Cinnabunny is having an operation today to fix her eyelid. She just turned 9 months last week. Good thoughts to all.

Ok, I admit it... I get mistyeyed whenever I think of JoeyR... and now they named a street for him. I see him looking down and mumbling something like an embarrassed "thanks youguysaretoomuch" through his mophair.

Lucky and I watched the Neil Diamond special in Ireland on PBS this weekend. I normally LOOOOVE Neil. However, he skeeved me out this time and I'm not sure it's reversible. Whilst singing "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" which is a creepy Lolita-esque song to begin with, he starts making love with his eyes to this fan. You don't see her face for a long time so you start wondering if it's a young girl... who definitely should NOT be getting looks like he's giving (the "I could eat you up" sex eyes). Then you see that it's not. She's in her 30s or so, so then you think maybe his girlfriend? But then you see her waving to the crowd, excitedlike and so obviously a fan. I just imagine Neil pointing to her afterwards giving his roadie the signal to get her "backstage passes" ala Motley Crue. YUCKY (and no I wasn't the only one who got the willies from that).
